I apologize to the authors who I have not credited.
Their remarks below are no less meaningful,
because I cannot attribute the sayings to them.

I hope you will gain as much as I have from these.

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
THE SENILITY PRAYER
Far better is to dare might things, To win glorious triumphs. Even checkered by failure, Than to rank with those poor spirits Who neither enjoy much or suffer much, Because they live in the great twilight That knows neither victory or defeat.
Teddy R.
In the end, it is not the years in your life that count.. It is the life in your years.
Abraham L.
You don't stop laughing because you, grow old, You grow old because You stop laughing.
A child is a helpless thing, Like a shotput on the end of a thin string: And it takes more than fists to hurt one. If every day bad words you scream, Then say “goodbye, self-esteem.”
Words Hurt
So many of our DREAMS at first seem impossible, Then they seem improbable, But when we summon the WILL, They soon become inevitable.
Many people will walk in and out of your life, But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
Yesterday is gone forever. Tomorrow is never here, and the only time we have is TODAY. If we have any good intentions, we had better put them into effect, TODAY.
There has never yet been a man in our history who led a life of ease whose name is worth remembering.
Teddy R.
There are two days in the week upon which and about which I never worry— two carefree days kept secretly free from fear and apprehension. One of these days is YESTERDAY, with its cares and frets and pains and aches, all its faults, mistakes, and blusters. Yesterday has passed forever beyond my recall. It was mine—now it is God’s. The other day that I do not worry about is TOMORROW, with all its possible adversities its burdens, its peril, its large promise and performance, its failures and mistakes. Tomorrow is as far beyond my mastery as yesterday. Tomorrow is God’s day – it will be mine. There is left, then, for myself but one day in the week—TODAY. Any man can fight the battles of Today. Any woman can carry the burdens of just one day; Any man can resist the temptations of Today. It is not the experience of Today that breaks man down. It is the remorse of what happened Yesterday and the fear of what Tomorrow might bring. These are God’s days …. Leave them to Him.
When we are motivated By goals that have deep meaning By dreams that need completion, By pure love that needs expressing, Then we truly have lived life.
Actions, not words, are the true criterion of the attachment of friends.
George W.

Lord, Thank you for this sink of dirty dishes: we have plenty of food to eat. Thank you for is pile of dirty, stinky laundry; we have plenty of nice clothes to wear. And I would like to thank you, Lord, for those unmade beds; they were so warm and comfortable last night. I know that many have no bed. Many thanks to you, Lord, for this bathroom, complete with all the splattered Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs defrosting badly. It has served us faithfully for many years. It is full of cold drinks and enough leftovers for two or three meals. Thank you, Lord, for this oven that absolutely must be cleaned today. It has baked so many things over the years. The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that needs mowing, the lawn that needs raking, we all enjoy the yard. Thank you, Lord, even for that slamming screen door. My kids are health and able to run and play. Lord, the presence of all these chores that await me says: You have richly blessed my family. I shall do them cheerfully and shall do them gratefully.
LORD, THANK YOU
1. My hands are small; please don’t expect perfection whenever I make a bed, draw a picture or throw a ball. My legs are short; please slow down so I can keep up with you.
2. My eyes have not seen the world as yours have; please let me explore safely, don’t restrict me unnecessarily.
3. Housework will always be there. I’m only little for a short time—please take time to explain things to me about this wonderful world, and do so willingly.
4. My feelings are tender; please be sensitive to my needs. Don’t nag me all day long. (You wouldn’t want me to be nagged for you inquisitiveness.) Treat me as you would like to be treated.
5. I am a special gift from God; please treasure me as god intended you to do, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to love by and disciplining me in a loving manner.
6. I need you encouragement to grow. Please go easy on the criticism; remember, you can criticize the things I do with our criticizing me. 7. Please give me the freedom to make decisions concerning myself. Permit me to fail, so that I can learn from my mistakes. Then someday I’ll be prepared to make the kinds of decisions life requires of me.
8. Please don’t do things over for me, somehow that makes me feel that my efforts didn’t quite measure up to your expectations. I know it’s hard, but please don’t try to compare me with my brother ore my sister.
9. Please don’t be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents, just as parent need vacations from kids. Besides, it’s a great way to show us kids that your marriage is very special.
10. Please take me to Sunday school and church regularly, setting a good example for me to follow. I enjoy learning more about God.

A Child’s Ten Commandments to Parents
After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and company doesn’t mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises, And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child, And you learn to build your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much . So, plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for some one to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure…that you really are strong, And you really do have worth.
Failure doesn’t mean you are a failure… It does mean you haven’t succeeded yet. Failure doesn’t mean you have accomplished nothing… It does mean you have learned something. Failure doesn’t mean you have been a fool… It means you had a lot of faith. Failure doesn’t mean you’ve been disgraced… It does mean you are willing to try. Failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it… It does mean you have to do something in a different way. Failure doesn’t mean you’ve wasted your life… It does mean that you have reason to start afresh. Failure doesn’t mean you should give up… It does mean you must try harder. Failure doesn’t mean you’ll never make it. It does mean it will take a little longer. Failure doesn’t mean you that God has abandoned you… It does mean that God has a better idea.
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve; I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey. I asked for health, that I might do greater things; I was given infirmity, that I might do better things. I asked for riches, that I might be happy; I was given poverty, that I might be wise. I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men; I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God. I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life; I was given life, that I might enjoy all things. I got nothing that I asked for but everything I had hoped for. Almost despite myself my unspoken prayer were answered. I among all men, am most richly blessed.
That man is a success: Who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; Who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children; Who has filled his niche, and accomplished his task; Who leaves the world better than he found it, Whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; Who has never lacked appreciation of the Earth’s beauty or failed to express it; Who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
“The tragedy in the lives of most of us is that we go through life walking down a high-walled lane with people of our own kind, the same economic situation, the same national background and education and religious outlook. And beyond those walls, all humanity lies, unknown and unseen, and untouched by our restricted and impoverished lives.”
Florence Hope Luscomb
Happiness is like a butterfly The more you chase it the more it will elude you. But if you turn your attention to other things, It comes and softly sits on your shoulder.
If one asks for success and prepares for failure, He will get the situation he has prepared for. Action may not always bring happiness, But there is no happiness without action.
The key to success is not that you don’t fall down. Rather that you get up after you have fallen down.
God has entrusted me with myself
WORRY IS THE PURSUIT OF AN IDLE MIND!
HE, who trims himself to suit everyone, will soon whittle himself away.
I do not know the key to success, But the key to failure, Is pleasing everybody.
Look at the toddler. He falls down many times in the course of learning to walk. If he had thought he was a failure for having fallen, He would not have gotten back up. And society would still be crawling instead of driving or flying.
“Sorry, but that is the way I am. I was like this in the beginning, am now, and will always be…” is a handy motto and delusion to have— if you do not want to grow up.
If you love some thing, set it free. If it comes back to you, it is yours. If it does not, it never was.
Revenge has a taste that lingers on to pollute the memory long after the person who inspired it is lost to sight.
But if I tell you who I am, You may not like who I am, and it is all that I know. I can only know that much of myself, which I have courage to confide to you. The fault is not with our stars, but within ourselves. People who are riddled with doubts Tend to be dogmatists who are never wrong. People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. Until you believe in yourself, you will not value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.
Inspire me and I will feel. Teach me and I will learn I can do anything as long As you show me how! Tell me to follow and I will come Love one another and I will too. Can’t you see? I want to be just like you! I look up to you While you look down at me I admire you so much and You mean so much to me!

It isn’t always easy This thing called life. Plans don’t always work out The way they were supposed to. And sometimes misfortune clouds the horizon. But…no matter how lonely The morning sun becomes, We always have to remember that It is up to us… We are the ones That have to push The clouds away…..
Laine Parsons
I put my hand in yours and together We can do what we could never do alone. No longer is there a sense of hopelessness. No longer must we depend upon our own unsteady willpower. We are all together now, reaching out for the power and strength greater than ours and as we join together, We will find love and understanding beyond our wildest dreams.

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING A message every adult should read because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life. When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry. When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.. When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up. When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say, ‘Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'
